1816 Cecil County Map

A well drawn, though not greatly detailed map, showing the region at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, just after the War of 1812.

While showing the entire County and region in the vicinity of the waterway, this map emphasizes the areas adjacent to the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. It shows other proposed routes of the Canal.

A good map for pinpointing the location of some land grants and boundaries, and early towns in the county. While it was published in the History of Cecil County, Maryland by George Johnston in 1881, the author had designed it to represent earlier county history.
